INDEPENDENT RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES

Independent Residential/Retirement Facilities are geared for seniors who wish to reduce or eliminate responsibilities of running a household; no longer wish to live alone; desire a socialized environment and want a sense of security. Many of these residences do offer some light assisted living services.

ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITIES

Assisted living facilities are usually based on several levels of care, beginning with independent living. Private apartments offer seniors their own personal haven with the benefit of 24 hour care giving services. Dining, activities and socialization are just down the hall. Assisted Services can be as simple as medication monitoring, or can include some or all of the following: bathing, grooming, escorting services, special food preparation, incontinence care, escorts to medical appointments.

Assisted Living Communities generally offer:

  • housekeeping
  • activities program
  • transportation (medical & personal)
  • laundry
  • 24 hour staffing
  • Private Pay, SSI accepted in some facilities, usually for no, or light-care residents.

Board and Care facilities are structured for residents that are either ambulatory or non- ambulatory, and require assistance with bathing, dressing, medication supervision, incontinence care, walking, feeding & grooming as required. Do you provide referrals for seniors in all income groups?

Yes. Our large directory of partner communities includes a wide range of pricing options. All seniors, regardless of their income, deserve a clean, safe and caring living environment.

What do you look for when evaluating facilities that offer dementia/Alzheimer’s care?

Dementia and Alzheimer’s care is specialized and assisted living communities are required to meet specific licensing requirements to accept residents with this diagnosis. We evaluate these communities as we would any assisted living residence with a specific eye on caregiver-to-resident ratio, security, food quality, appropriate activities, music, and opportunities for interaction with pets and children.

Are pets allowed at Assisted Living?

More and more communities are now accepting residents with pets. Some assisted living communities will only allow cats, while others will allow cats and dogs (usually with a weight limit) In most communities, residents must be able to completely care for their furry loved ones. Some communities have “house” pets that are shared and loved by all the residents.
